Frome Lantern Parade

Congratulations to all of the Oakfield Academy pupils and staff that joined the Frome Lantern Parade last week—the event was an incredible success and the lanterns looked fabulous

KS2 Athletics

On Wednesday 19th November we took a group of 25 KS2 pupils up to Frome Sports centre to compete in a KS2 Athletics Festival. The competition was organised and run by Year 13 Frome Community College pupils.  Pupils took part in an array of different athletic activities and fun was had by all. Pupils were divided into 6 groups and accumulated points for each activity. We managed to secure the top score in 4 of the groups and these pupils were given a certificate. A massive well done to Arlan and Harrison joint in their group, Jude, Freddie and Alfie.  A huge well done to all involved.

World Mental Health Day news

Thank you to everyone for taking part in our wear green for World Mental Health Day on Friday 10th October. We raised an amazing £384.30, with half being donated to Place2Be and half to the World Mental Health Foundation. We added in an element of competition across our 4 Houses. It was a close competition but Earth House raised the most with £100.71!

Chess News

On Saturday 11th October seven of our chess club played in their first tournament of the academic year hosted by Bath Juniors. No podium finishes, but all played well and did themselves and the Academy proud. Particularly well done to Rubus, who won three games and drew one to come 5th/10 in the under 14s grouping, and Theo Ravenscroft & Isaac Anderson, who both won three games each coming 6th & 9th overall on rankings out of 17 in the under 11s. Congratulations to Yowan Gibson, Bertie Sledge & Tyler Amphlett for whom this was their debut tournament, and we mustn't forget Sam MacDonald who impressed the volunteer arbiters with his resilience.  Lots of lessons to learn, particularly slowing down and analysing their opponents’ moves and remembering they have fifteen minutes to play on the clock,  not two! Thank you to Sasha our fantastic Chess Tutor for inviting us along, pictured below with the Oakfield Academy team.
